XL Specialized Trailers Showcases Construction Heavy Haul Trailers at the Mid-America Trucking Show

XL Specialized Trailers, a market-leading manufacturer of custom-engineered heavy haul trailers, showcases four durable specialized trailers at the 2012 Mid-America Trucking Show in booth #16212. Two of these units are built for the construction market; the XL 120 Low-Profile (Scraper) Hydraulic Detachable Gooseneck and the 110 Cheater Hydraulic Detachable Gooseneck.

XL’s 60-ton Low-Profile (Scraper) HDG sets a new standard for hauling the heaviest construction equipment. The 52’ long 120 HDG is rated with 120,000 lb. overall capacity and 120,000 lb. in 10’ concentrated. It features the popular low-profile gooseneck with a 78” flip neck extension. Heavy-duty swingout outriggers and top flange reinforcement run across the 26’ long deck.

The 12’ low-profile neck, open boom trough, and 32° slope of rear transition make loading Scrapers and trucks of all sizes an efficient process. The 24” loaded deck height and 8” ground clearance provide flexibility in hauling. This model has details that set it apart from similar units: airlift on the third axle, 13/4” raised Apitong decking, heavy-duty bolt-on wheel covers, and a battery backup. In addition to the 3 axles, the 120 HDG is prepped for a 2-axle booster to increase the set-up’s capacity.

The patented XL Cheater Neck continues to provide the ultimate in hydraulic efficiency and safety. With a capacity rating of 110,000 lb. distributed, 110,000 lb. in 10’ concentrated, and 53’ overall length, the XL110 Cheater Hydraulic Detachable Gooseneck handles the roughest loads proficiently. The 110 CHDG’s patented Cheater neck offers nine pin locations, resulting in a range of swing clearance from 84” to 116”. Multiple ride heights allow drivers to adjust according to load and location.

The 12’ 11” long hydraulic neck was custom-designed to save drivers valuable time. A driver’s favorite, it can be hooked and unhooked without the operator continually getting in and out of the truck. Oversized donuts and tapered load pins allow for faster hook-up on uneven ground. The chain drops and removable heavy-duty swingout outriggers provide increased versatility.

Scott Wall comments on the construction models “The Cheater is an important part of XL history that continues to prove valuable for drivers, while the Scraper is a newer example of the innovation our engineering department provides—allowing XL to always offer superior solutions for hauling construction equipment.”
