XL 60 Hydraulic Detachable Mini-Deck Trailer Introduced at the Mid-America Trucking Show

A market-leading manufacturer of custom-engineered heavy haul trailers, XL Specialized Trailers’ new XL 60 Mini-Deck lowboy uses an innovative 3-beam design to provide users with ultimate versatility. Featuring a loaded deck height of 12 inches with 4 inches of ground clearance and an empty weight that easily allows scaling to maximum payload, XL Mini-decks are available with a hydraulic gooseneck, mechanical gooseneck, or mechanical gooseneck with an air hatbox. The market-leading heavy haul trailer manufacturer will display the hydraulic version at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. March 26-28 in booth No. 16212.

The XL 60 HDG Mini-Deck features a capacity of 60,000 pounds overall and 60,000 pounds in 16 feet concentrated. The trailer, which is comprised of T-1 flange and 80K web, features an 11-foot long low-profile hydraulic neck full-width platform, which provides additional loading or storage space. Equipped with a Honda Power 13 horsepower (hp) unit, it allows the user to raise and lower the neck into one of the five ride height positions with ease.

The Mini-Deck meets bridge clearance laws without sacrificing strength. XL’s superior 3-beam design uses a center box beam resulting in a lighter yet exceptionally strong main deck, which is only 8 inches tall. 4-inch junior I-beams on 18-inch centers join the box beam and the side rails. The design has steel over the center deck and Apitong decking in the outer bays for added traction when loading.

The 53-foot long trailer offers 33 feet in the well for maximum loading area. This trailer is equipped with customer-friendly features: 12 bent D-rings per side on the main deck plus two per side on both the upper and rear deck, 4-inch tapered front ramps, manual ride height control, and LED lighting with an amber strobe. The XL Mini-deck is prepped for a Flip Axle, to add additional axles when needed to meet various regulations.

“At XL, we are always designing new trailers so our customers have several different solutions for the unique loads that they are carrying,” says Rodney Crim, Vice President of Sales at XL Specialized Trailers. “Many of our customers have asked for a mini-deck application, so we set out to design the most versatile and durable mini-deck design out there.”
